FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GENERAL QUESTIONS

  • Of course we do! It is helpful to work with an experienced coach when you are just picking up the game of tennis. We also have coaches who specialize in giving lessons to intermediate and advanced tennis players. No matter what your age or skill level, we will find the right coach for you.

  • All you need to bring is a tennis racket, a bottle of water, tennis shoes/sneakers, and a towel (if you sweat a lot). Our coaches provide all other necessities, such as tennis balls. If you do not have a racquet, many of our coaches have extra racquets until you purchase one of your own, just make sure to ask them before your lesson if they have an extra one.

  • For specific address please choose your city from the dropdown menu in our website. On each of our city pages we have the locations at which we teach. Sometimes we have two locations per city, in those cases you can confirm the location of the court with the coach.

  • All of our coaches have played college or professional tennis, have taught lessons for years and the great majority of them are certified by the United States Tennis Association, Professional Tennis Registry or the United States Professional Tennis Association.

  • In the cases where the court is wet due to rain, the lesson will be canceled. Determination of whether the lesson is canceled due to rain will be made by the coach and in some situations will happen up to 2 hours before the lesson actually occurs if a change in weather forecast is expected. It is common in Texas for tennis courts to dry after 1.5 hours of sun/wind exposure, after being completely wet.

  • When the wind chill factor is less than 35° F there will be no practice. That equates to 49° F and winds of more than 12 MPH. You can calculate the chill factor here: www.mste.uiuc.edu/dildine\wind_chill

For all ages, if the heat index is between 100°F and 107°F, the class will proceed with low impact tennis activities, with breaks every 10 minutes and part of the class conducted off-court. If the temperature exceeds 107°F, the class will be cancelled.

Use this table to assess the heat index: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/heat/heat_index.shtml

  • Cancellation of a lesson must be made AT LEAST 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson time in order to receive a make-up lesson (for the definition of a make-up lesson, please see below). Please provide written notification to info@francoracquetsports.com

No shows or failure to notify the coach/academy within 24 hours is considered a forfeited lesson.

No more than 1 cancellation for every 5 lessons. (Excludes Cancellation due to weather)

  • Any lessons canceled at least 24 hours ahead will receive a make-up lesson at a time convenient to both the teacher and the student. Typically, make-up lessons take place at an alternate time/day within the week.

Make-up lessons not used after 1 month will be considered forfeited.

  • Should you choose to take a break, unused lessons can be banked for you for a period of 3 months. Unused lessons after that time will be considered forfeited.

What is a Private Group Lesson also known as a Semi-Private lesson: Is a shared private lesson limited to a maximum of four students that play a similar level of tennis. The students generally know each other and amongst them coordinate time, day, and location that best fits their needs. Is limited to four students.

    Overview for payment:

    • If the person you are sharing a class with cancels or does not show up, the person who didn’t go will be charged regardless. The same applies when there are more than two people in the group.

    • As an alternative, you also have the option of canceling the class altogether if it is in mutual agreement as long as it meets the 12 Hour Advance notice we request from students.

The previous norms are set in this way due to the fact that the coach will still be on the court for the full hour. Please keep in mind that the semi-private lessons are done based on a commitment from each party involved (coach, students, and academy), and consistency from all the parties is key to make it work.
