Coach Chris

Chris is a natural talent for teaching, he currently serves as a substitute teacher for the Montgomery, TX School District. In the course of his law enforcement career, he took on the role of a certified instructor, specializing in various subjects, including Physical Conditioning Training. From 2018 to 2023, Chris resided in The Villages, FL, the largest retirement community and resort in the country. During this time, he held the position of President and principal instructor of a Croquet Club. Additionally, he played a key role in organizing and scheduling the largest tennis doubles league in the community.

Growing up in Detroit, Michigan, where tennis wasn't widely popular, he sought out the sport, playing in public parks with makeshift nets. His Federal law enforcement position led them to Houston, TX, where he discovered a tennis culture in every subdivision. Starting in the low "F" division, he steadily climbed the ranks, eventually competing in the challenging "B" division. 

Chris's tennis journey spans forty years, with consistent play over the last six years. Winning numerous tournaments in Texas and Florida, he secured a gold medal in the Senior Games in Ormond Beach, FL, in men's doubles over 60, open category. Notably, he has a unique skill of occasionally switching hands to hit a left-handed forehand when a ball is out of reach. Beyond their playing accomplishments, they attended the DelRay Beach Open pro tennis tournament as spectators. In a friendly wager, he correctly identified Venus Williams, engaging in a short conversation with the tennis legend, showcasing his passion and keen eye for the sport.
